Sometimes when I need a good laugh, or want to make myself feel good about me I listen to shitty rap.

This one is especially bad. I thought rap that glorified gang violence was dead.

and this is great. I mean ever line rhymes, and ends with niggaz.

Two things.

1 I'm not sure you actually understand what these songs are about. Ironically they're thematically very similar.

2 There are people that, opinions on the appropriateness and quality (or lack thereof) of the music not withstanding, would find the fact that you listen to it merely to get a laugh or to "make [yourself] feel good about [you]" offensive.

Just saying.

In a way. I'm not an advocate largely due to the language. The funny thing is both songs are denigrations of people who 'talk the talk but don't walk the walk.' The point they're both trying to get across is 'do better.'

The thing is the post comes off as "I'm going to laugh at this culture [and their shitty music] for my self esteem" and it irked me. Really the whole concept of "let's laugh at others to make ourselves feel better" bothers me in general. This could have been Polka, Accordion music, or Beijing Opera.

I don't see anything wrong with laughing at some one who thanks they are great but in fact produces shit. And why not make fun a a culture that celebrates ignorance. And just to clarify I don't hate rap. There are many rappers I respect because they have talent, and their lyrics have substance, and/or are funny. Hell I even like some of Nicki's raps I mean she is has talent she just doesn't use it half the time.

Here's another Future song that solidifies my point. I mean this whole song is telling the kids it's aimed at that the best thing they can do is "move that dope" and if they do they'll make lots of money, and be cooler. And the fact that these rappers claim that they are really out dealing dope just pisses me off. The Pharrell verse is pretty good but I can't get over that hat. lol

I see you point. I just feel that I have just as much of a right to make fun of this stuff as it's fans have to like it. If they get mad because I don't like what they like that's fine.

the main reason I posted this here was I was tired of seeing youtube comments sayng how talented these artists(mostly Future) are, and I'm fairly certain that the kind of people that like this music aren't the kind of people that check Oppo six times a day. lol
